Malifaux Monthly -Spring Duel

The 2025 Spring Duel is a three round Malifaux tournament, which will be held at the Carcosa Club on Saturday, May 17, 2025. UPDATE: We will use Fourth Edition Open Beta rules (using the latest rules, strats, schemes, model cards, etc., as of Thursday, May 15, 2025). The event will have a maximum of 16 players.

The tournament will use Swiss Pairing. We will use the Longshanks website (which supports 4e!) to track results and generate pairings for each round. After you purchase a ticket, please register on Longshanks at this link:

https://malifaux.longshanks.org/event/22087/

Each round will afford players 15 minutes for setup, and then 150 minutes to play. Chess clocks are encouraged, and mandatory if either player requests to use one. Chess clock rules are the same as for the Malifaux World Series; see the chess clock rules in the link below for the most recent MWS event. Some exceptions: for the Spring Duel, clocks will be set to 1:15 per player, instead of 1:30. Also, some MWS rules will need to be adjusted for 4e. For example, once you clock out, you cannot Empower duels, but the mandatory effects of friendly tokens you created before running out of time persist.

Etiquette

-Be nice and respectful to each other. The organizers reserve the right to ask you to leave if you’re being a jerk. If you encounter a problem with another player, please notify an organizer and we’ll address it.
-Be gentle with terrain, your opponent’s minis, battlemats, etc.
-Treat the space well. If you eat a snack during a game, grab a red tray from the kitchen and put your food on top of it. The club has cup holders you can hook onto the sides of tables to hold beverages and prevent disastrous spills. Don’t leave food out and clean up after yourself.
-Don’t, you know, cheat. The organizers reserve the right to check your fate deck to make sure it has all 54 cards. If it doesn’t, and you could benefit from the discrepancy, we reserve the right to ban you from all future events.
-It’s of course fine to chat about the game, about what models you own, about what crews you’re planning to try out, etc. But don’t try to glean information about your opponent’s crew before a game just to counter-pick them.

Odd Man Out

In case of an odd number of attendees, we will have a player ready to serve as the “odd man out.” The results of the odd man out’s matches will count, but the odd man out will be ignored in the final event standings.
